What is Christmas about? What is the truth and the real meaning of Christmas? It is important to know what you are
celebrating during the Christmas holiday season and why. It is a delusive of selfishness to include oneself in a celebration that one does not believe in. To
be blunt, and truthful, you either include yourself by faith or you don't. To be real, you celebrate your birthday on your date of birth,
so the celebration is in
congruency. So why would anyone want to celebrate Christmas if they do not believe in Christ? They want to have their cake and eat it too, they want to be
a part of the festivities, and yet be excluded from the belief at the same time.
Many non-believers may like to share their own opinions, but opinions without
truth and wisdom are just opinions, the truth remains constant. Christmas Day is observed as a holiday on December 25th to commemorate and celebrate
the birth of Jesus, the birth of the Savior. The primary meaning of Christmas is celebrating the coming of God into the world, in the form of man, to atone for the sins of humanity.
The story and real meaning of Christmas, the birth of Jesus, was prophesized ahead of time; Therefore the Lord himself
will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. - Isaiah 7:14
What is Christmas? The literal Christmas meaning is the Mass (celebration) of Christ. The name Christ is a Greek word and title, meaning "anointed" or one set apart by
God for a special purpose. Christ in Hebrew means "Messiah." Based on the words of ancient prophets, the 1st century Jewish people foretold the arrival of the Messiah
promised by God as a great deliver, a savior of and for the people.
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: when His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by the Holy
Spirit. And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man and not wanting to disgrace her, planned to send her away secretly. But when he had considered this, behold, an
angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for the Child who has been conceived in her
is of the Holy Spirit. "She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins." Now all this took place to fulfill what
was spoken by the Lord through the prophet: "BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD AND SHALL BEAR A SON, AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL," which translated means,
"GOD WITH US." And Joseph awoke from his sleep and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took Mary as his wife, but kept her a virgin until she gave birth to
a Son; and he called His name Jesus. Matthew 1:18-25
December 25 is not believed to be the actual day that Jesus was conceived, the date was initially chosen to correspond 9 months after what some Christians believe to be
his birth date, which corresponds with the date of the Roman winter solstice.
This is now what is considered to be the traditional birth date. Some conclude, based on their interpretations of scriptural evidence, that Jesus was born
on what is the 15th day of the month of Tishri, on the 1st day of the Feast of Tabernacles which is more congruent with a birth date which corresponds to September or October.
What is Christmas continues in Bethlehem; So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and
line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and
she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. And there were shepherds living out in
the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the
angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ
the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising
God and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. Luke 2:4-14
Now you know what is Christmas, the real story about Christmas, the meaning of Christmas, and the reason for the Christmas season. You can see how Christmas
would come to be celebrated in the previous paragraph; the news of the birth of the Savior Jesus Christ was "good news of great joy that will be for all
the people." You also might consider that the current tradition of gift giving may have originated from the three wise men who brought Jesus brought three
gifts; On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh. - Matthew 2:11
"Therefore, my brothers, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. - Acts 13:38
and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. - Colossians 1:20
Why Christians celebrate Christmas has nothing to do with
religion or being religious. It is all about having a Relationship with your Heavenly Father who created you. If you have not started a relationship with
your creator, and are just not sure, take a good look around you, look in depth at everything he created, look at yourself, at your fingerprint, he made you unique, one
of a kind, and wants you to know his great love for you.
